Meet the Team
Long time friends, Lara Lynn and Garland started Waddell & Willcutt Architecture because of their shared passion for bringing thoughtful design back to the region they grew up in. As graduates of Mississippi State University’s architecture program, they are proud to be making a lasting impact in their home state, while setting an example for the next generation of Mississippi architects.

Principal & ArchitectAs the only girl of four children, Lara Lynn was the child that voluntarily stayed up long hours of the night working on both her and her brothers’ school projects. She fondly recalls her youngest brother being pictured in the local paper for being awarded “most artistic” for a project that she spent hours working on herself. As an adult, her passions have grown to projects of much larger scale and mostly revolve around architecture and thoughtful building design. She has a true love for sourcing vintage furniture and taking forgotten objects and making them new and beautiful again. After working for high-end residential architecture firms in Texas and Tennessee, Lara Lynn and her border collie, Rocky, have found their way back home to North Mississippi. In her free time, she is currently busy renovating her grandparent’s home and taking graduate courses in historic building preservation.

Principal & ArchitectOriginally from Starkville, Mississippi, it only felt natural for Garland to move back to her hometown as this new business venture was on the horizon. After working for multiple architecture firms in two large cities, a slower paced lifestyle was a no brainer. Eager for control of her day-to-day, it was important for her to make time for the things she enjoys beyond her career. If she is not spending time with friends and family, you can probably find her sitting on her porch with her dog, Honey. People who know her would describe her as a sociable person with a passion for helping others. This carries on in her work as well, as she always strives to deliver the best possible results to her clients while also forming a personal relationship with each of them. Garland’s dream is to raise her future family in a historic home where there will be no shortage of events to host and people to entertain.
